Shahi Paneer Recipe: Indulge in Royalty – Creamy, Rich, and Delicious!

Shahi Paneer is a popular North Indian dish that is known for its rich and creamy texture. As the name suggest Shahi means “Royal”, it is a Dish that belongs to Royal Indian Families. It is made with paneer (Indian cottage cheese) cooked in a creamy tomato-based gravy with a blend of aromatic spices and garnished with nuts. “Shahi” refers to the royal or regal nature of the dish, indicating its indulgent and luxurious qualities.

How To Make Shahi Paneer – Step by Step Guide:

  1. Heat ghee or oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  2. Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute until the raw smell disappears.
  4. In a blender, blend the soaked cashews, melon seeds, and poppy seeds (if using) into a smooth paste.
  5. Add the tomato puree to the pan and cook until the oil separates from the mixture.
  6. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, cardamom powder, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
  7. Stir in the cashew paste and cook for a couple of minutes.
  8. Reduce the heat and add fresh cream and milk. Mix well and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  9. Add the paneer cubes to the gravy and gently mix to coat them. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 250 gram Paneer (cottage cheese cut into cubes
  • 2 tbsp Ghee (clarified butter) or oil
  • 1 Pc Large Onion Chopped
  • 2 Pc Tomatoes Pureed
  • 1 tsp Ginger Garlic paste
  • 1/4 Cup Fresh Cream
  • 1/4 Cup Milk
  • 1/4 Cup Cashews Soaked in warm water
  • 1 tbsp Melon seeds Optional
  • 1 tsp Poppy seeds Optional
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1/2 tsp Cardamom powder
  • 1/2 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp salt to taste As per your taste
  • 1/4 Cup Chop Coriander Leaves For Garnish
